Summer Skin Beware Not all SPF is the same!

Summer skin beware! I know Beauties I have ranted about using SPF to protect and age defy but not all are created equal 😦 Beware of Zinc Oxide in products (you remember the white stuff on surfers noses Lol!) seems it has a cancer causing chemical reaction when in the sun (Doh! That’s why we used it!).
Cell toxicity studies by Dr. Yinfa Ma, Curators’ Teaching Professor of chemistry at Missouri S&T, and his graduate student Qingbo Yang, suggest that when exposed to sunlight, zinc oxide, a common ingredient in sunscreens, undergoes a chemical reaction that may release unstable molecules known as free radicals. Free radicals seek to bond with other molecules, but in the process, they can damage cells or the DNA contained within those cells. This in turn could increase the risk of skin cancer.
So again, read labels, trust as much as you can use your own intuition (personally some of those cute UVA/UVB hats are so cute) limit exposure and do it as safely as possible! Meow! Kat
